Great day – Thursday, Feb. 19th

Friday, February 20th, 2009

Had a great hour and a half meeting with Barb Seckler.  Barb heads Columbus' Institute of Active Living, Mayor Coleman's vision of improving the fitness of our great city.  We will do everything within our power to help work towards the goal.

The Columbus Occupational Health Nurses have contacted us in regards to coming out to volunteer at Just Walk! Please look forward to seeing this wonderful group of women and men and future walks taking very qualified blood pressures and offering expert advice. Thank you COHN!

Next Friday, Dr. Jim O'Brien and future doctor Jon Bonnett will be addressing the internal medicine housestaff of OSUMC.  These doctors will play a strong role in the development of Walk with a Doc - Ohio State.  If you have any recommendations for this Wednesday evening walk starting April 1st, please let us know.

We have been having great discussions with a young leader in Tulsa.  Look for great news as we partner up with a young man working hard to make a difference in Oklahoma. David

The crowds keep getting bigger…..

Monday, February 9th, 2009

Despite the thawing (gorgeous) weather, it was still relatively icy at Highbanks and we chose to keep our indoor route this past weekend.
The turnout was truly awesome and thank you to the Kumars and Schering-Plough for sponsoring.
The Vasists were inspired and offered to host next weekend - thank you for your generosity.
We announced that Ricky Gardner, a fourth year medical student at OSU, will be leading the walk next week at Polaris (Molly and I have hospital duties), along with our other doctors.  Ricky will be helping OSU get their Walk with a Doc started; and starting a Walk with a Doc in South Bend, IN - when he begins his residency this July.
Have a great week and we will see you on the flip side.
David
