Happy Days

Posted on 04/30/202104/30/2021 by Walk with a Doc HQ
Good morning! It is happy days in Walkland. This is, in part, why:Walk with a Doc is pleased to announce the appointment of four new board members: Sonya L. Cook with OhioHealth, Chaunfayta L. Hightower with AARP, Theresa Y. Wee, MD with Wee Pediatrics, Inc., and Maria Wolf, a community member, advocate, and walker.
Each of these new board members brings unique and valuable skills and talents that will strengthen WWAD. They join a dedicated board of directors and we are super excited!
Sonya L. Cook is vice president of Human Resources at OhioHealth (Columbus, OH). Ms. Cook is both an attorney and an HR professional with an extensive labor/human resource background. She has a genuine interest in healthcare overall, particularly in accessibility and wellness. She islooking forward to being able to help make a significant community impact.
Chaunfayta L. Hightower is Director of Partnership Solutions AARP and is based in Maryland. Ms. Hightower is responsible for shaping relationships, enabling internal teams to advance AARP’s work by leveraging partners, and ensuring alignment across the organization. Having participated in WWAD events, Ms. Hightower has had a chance to experience the health benefitsand social connectedness that comes from walking and she knows – it just works. (Rachael’s asking when it’s time to hit the NCR again, Chaun).
Theresa Y. Wee, M.D. is the owner and president of Wee Pediatrics, Inc., in Waipahu, Hawaii. Dr. Wee has been a WWAD friend for several years and started a Walk with a Doc chapter in Waipahu in 2016. In 2019 she was instrumental in helping the University of Hawaii Medical School start a Walk with a Future Doc chapter. Dr. Wee is also a published author!
Maria E. Wolf is a long-time walker and supporter of WWAD’s High Banks chapter in Columbus, Ohio. Ms. Wolf is retired and is active in her community serving on several boards. She looks forward to bringing her experience and expertise in communication, administration, and interpersonal skills to WWAD, and helping to improve health locally and across the globe.
Celebrate Mother’s Day
Mother, Mom, Mama… whatever we call our mother, she is one of the most important people in our lives! From nurturing us to helping us to take our first steps, kissing our scraped knees, holding our hands through tough times, and wiping our tears, our mothers deserve our gratitude and love. This Mother’s Day, give your Mom a gift that honors her and also helps others. That would make her proud! Your gift will help us provide resources for new chapters, free health information, and empower others to take steps towards a healthier life.
