Sudden Cardiac Arrest

Posted on 10/14/202203/31/2023 by Walk with a Doc HQ
Good morning!

On October 15th, we are partnering with The Omar Carter Foundation to raise awareness around Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA).

Omar is a beloved member of Walk with a Doc Charlotte and on July 9, 2013, his professional basketball career was over. In the middle of a game, his heart had stopped. He lay on the floor receiving CPR for 13 minutes until emergency transport arrived. He wound up in the hospital, on life support, and in a medically-induced coma. Statistics show that 90% of people who suffer from sudden cardiac arrest do not survive, but Omar did.
We need your help to elevate this important cause!

Here’s how you can get involved:
🫀 Honor Omar by taking a walk on October 15th (or whenever you can this month). Join your local WWAD chapter or walk anywhere you’d like!
🫀 Tell us about your walk! Use #OmarsWalk and post on your social media channels or in the WWAD Facebook Group. You can also email photos and videos to chels@walkwithadoc.org instead
🫀 Learn about Sudden Cardiac Arrest (click here to download a handout)
🫀 Get CPR Certified. Dr. Rohit Mehta from WWAD Charlotte says, “The main issue with sudden cardiac arrest is that it is most often symptomless and sudden. The proper action to take is to call 911 as well as CPR and AED use.” Click here to search for CPR classes in your area.
Thank you for your support!
