Good morning! For the holidays a couple years back, Jessica got our whole team a life-changing book called the Five Minute Journal (5MJ).
Everyday is the same page with a different quote overhead and each morning starts with naming three things you are grateful for.
Attitude of gratitude is a cheesy line, but it works and we all have countless things to be grateful for. (Great speaker; not me. I frequently wear more yellow.)
Anyway, yesterday one of my 3 was ‘WWAD for bringing us all together’
Backstory.
I have regrettably become addicted to the news, and not unlike 5MJ, we’re all aware that it’s a slightly different spin on the same stuff everyday.
Rarely a day goes by where the narrative does not include how divided we are as a country.
We’re better than this and we’ll get there, but right now, it sucks.
(I’m talking about the U.S. here. Portugal, you’re cool.)
I’m disgusted with myself after what seems like hours on Twitter, and like all of you, I hate the vitriol.
You know what bothers me the most?
I can’t even begin to understand the other side.
Krissy and I are fortunate to have close friends that we love. They mean everything in the world to us – and I’m pretty sure they’re equal 50% ’R’ and 50% ‘D’.
They are brilliant, they are kind, they are incredible people that make us extremely happy.
We’ll do everything in our power to have them as lifelong friends.
With half of them, we 100% disagree on politics.
It kills me.
So, when I’m sucked back into the news, and I need something, anything, to recover my equipoise, the Walk does exactly that every single time.
Back to the 5MJ comment, I’ve personally experienced that despite every possible socio-cultural barrier, we come together as one loving community no matter where we started.
We laugh, we eat honeycrisp apples, we walk and often, we hug.
Purple rain, purple rain.
We need more Walk with a Doc’s.
