Good morning!
Do you smell that?
Oh my gosh, doesn’t that smell so good!
Seriously.
Can you smell it?
No?
Oooohhh…I know that smell!
It’s 400.
That is the smell of 400 chapters (396 as of 6:30 am EST 7/20/18)
Look at what you are doing?!
You, YOU, are going through these non-conventional, non-traditional, unique, crazy new channels and you, YOU are transforming your community. By yourself.
You are nuts(!) and you are creating/leaving a legacy for your community.
Your community that you love.
And that’s right, it was sooooo easy.
All just going for a walk with your friends…
Okay, fun.
Now on to the serious stuff, health. Let’s start over.
Good morning!
We are honored to team once again with the Ohio State Fair in 2018.
Dr. Bryan Ghiloni will be leading and the directions of the walk are simple, there are only four right turns.
If you are interested in attending, please reach out to us by responding to this email.
Disclaimer: These directions are what I envision, but may not be accurate.
If we want to be anything, we want to be accurate.
Accurate and healthy.
Yes, healthy.
More healthy than accurate.
Healthy activity, healthy mind, healthy diet, healthy, healthy, healthy.
HEALTHY!
We’re fortunate because this WWAD – State Fair Style hits on ALL that.
There’s a time to be funny and there’s a time to roll up your sleeves and save lives.
We encourage everyone to walk at their own moderate to brisk pace, so please print off this copy of directions to take with you.
Our meeting place.
Please make sure to bring comfortable shoes, a hat, sunscreen, and your favorite pair of sunglasses. We want you looking your best – you never know who you might come across on the Midway.
1) Coffee Lovers hold onto your hats because 0.45 mile straight ahead is the stand selling Deep-Fried Caramel Lattes. Do not pass go and please take a right.
2) Just after passing the butter sculpture, (yes, that is a14 foot replica of our country’s 27th President, William Howard Taft (Cincinnati)), you’ll take a left.
Please look for the Bacon-Wrapped, Chocolate Covered Churros.
That smell you appreciate is the U.S.’s 2nd largest Open-Air Pachyderm building (Minnesota).
That’s not 400.
400 does NOT smell like that.
Great! You’re 0.85 miles in. Take another right.
3) As you pass the Hugh Downs (Akron) themed Giant Slide on your left please don’t be distracted. You’ll need to keep your wits about you as you seek out the kiosk selling Krispy Kreme Cheeseburgers with Deep-Fried Ice Cream.
Please, another right.
4)About 200-250 yards up on your left is the life-size replica of Gabe Kaplan (not from Ohio, just famous) giving Kelly Clarkson (also not from OH) a high five.
Don’t they look so happy?
Yep, they are made out of 100% Chipped Beef/Cream Cheese Dip.
Another 2 blocks ahead you’ll see the Bloody Mary stand (can’t miss).
This marks turn 4 of our 1.5 mile loop.
Hopefully this will be 20-35 minutes by the time you’ve finished.
I would argue there is nothing better you can do for yourself and your family than walk 20-30 minutes a day.
Can you agree to do that?
Can you write it down?
That’s the trick.
If you are struggling to get started, please write it down (e.g. Sat walk 20 mins).
Quick aside.
If you are not walking too fast, you might notice that one of the garnishes on their Bloody Mary is…another Bloody Mary.
That’s exactly right.
Another Bloody Mary.
Take a right.
Thank you. Needed to get that out of my system, now on to our heroes!
We love you Mary Black Health System!!!
Walk with a Doc Spartanburg has been a huge success since 2013. Walk Champion Teri Donahoo says, “The Walk With a Doc program provides a great opportunity for participants to meet a wide range of medical professionals in a casual, non-clinical setting. Since a nature trail is part of our beautiful hospital campus, Walk With a Doc events are also a great way to introduce the community to a public space where they can bring their whole family for fun exercise. Mary Black Health System not only plans to continue Walk With a Doc, but would also like to see it become one of our signature community events.”
